[CD REVIEW] 沼澤 (The Swamp) – 憧憬之船 (The Boat) (2008)

Distributed as a free digital single in 2008, 憧憬之船 (The Boat) is a 12 minute long track that follows in the vein of 沼澤 (The Swamp’s) more recent post rock sound.

Like the soundtrack to an old fisherman’s tale, the song conveys feelings of desperation and loneliness. With sparse moments that tug at the listener’s heart, giving way to busy musical passages that command emotional power. The song is aptly titled –– just like the feeling of a boat on the sea, the song drifts through similar musical build up and climaxes.

As with most post rock music, it is difficult to express in words what in particular triggers the emotional resonance –– and is truly something that needs to be experienced and heard by the individual.

In essence –– this is emotional music
