[HK] Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein makes her first appearance in Hong Kong

Next month, the Fringe Club will be bringing local audiences Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein, a Burmese singer whom the media has been calling Burma’s answer to Lady Gaga. Known for her high octane voice and eccentric fashion sense, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein is slated to make her debut in the city on April 10th. Concert goers can expect songs performed from the songstress’ ten plus year career. Her latest album was 2012’s Damsel in Distress, which topped the charts in her home country. Joining Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein on stage will be New York based rock act Torpid May and local rock group Neue Seite.

About Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein:
Phyu Phyu Thein, known by her stage name PHYU PHYU KYAW THEIN was born on April 22,1981, in Yangon, to a couple of two economists. PPKT is the younger of two children. Over the years, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein has perhaps become best-­‐known for her electric performances across Myanmar, prompting critics to hail her as the Lady Gaga of Myanmar. Phyu Phyu regularly performs in the west, and Southeast-­‐ and East-­‐Asia, noteworthy at the the 40th anniversary of ASEAN at the Hard Rock Café in Singapore.
